Promoting Student Success in Early College Credit Courses
Category: Student Learning
Designed and validated specifically for online learning and MOOCs; assesses students’ self-regulated learning strategies in this context. Tested with both exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis.
Limited evidence for K–12, face-to-face, or non-online learning contexts.
The Self-Regulated Online Learning Questionnaire (SOL-Q) is a self-report survey that measures students’ self-regulated learning behaviors in online learning environments. It assesses strategies related to planning, monitoring, effort regulation, and seeking help during online learning.
The SOL-Q can be used in education research to understand how students manage their learning in online courses and how these strategies relate to learning outcomes. It was developed and validated with higher education students and is intended specifically for online learning contexts. It may be useful for evaluating students’ readiness for or experiences with online learning, but it has not been established for elementary or secondary students.
