Strengths

Strong reliability; validated with undergraduate students for assessing confidence in managing their own learning.

Cautions

Limited validation with elementary or secondary students and adult learners outside formal training; not established for evaluating whether an instructional intervention improves self-regulated learning.

The Self-Efficacy for Self-Regulated Learning Scale (SESRL) is a self-report measure of students’ confidence in their ability to use self-regulated learning strategies. It assesses beliefs about managing academic tasks, such as completing assignments, studying, and staying focused when learning becomes difficult.

The SESRL can be used in education research to examine students’ confidence in managing their own learning and how this relates to academic behaviors and achievemen
